It’s the middle of the Namib Desert and some prospectors have disappeared. Luckily for them they disappeared somewhere on the way to “C Camp” and a truck full of people from base camp are on their way to “C Camp” to drop off fuel and a Systems Analyst. Unluckily for them, the prospectors are not just missing. They’ve released something. And that something has devoured the flesh from their bones.

Upon discovering the corpses of two of the three prospectors, they decide to follow the tracks in the hope of capturing the suspect, the third man in the team. Red Sands is the second collaboration between writer Simon Barrett and Director Alex Turner. Their previous movie, Dead Birds was a creepy, gory, atmospheric civil war set horror movie. And although it doesn’t contain enough dead birds to warrant the pluralization of the title, Dead Birds is definitely worth a look.

Coming as a second part in what is said to be a narratively unrelated, but thematically similar planned trilogy (à la Chan-Wook Park’s Vengeance trilogy) this movie is a worthy sophomore effort.

Epitafios is a mini series from Argentina.  The basic plot revolves around an investigation into who is responsible for a series of murders.  The killer is leaving clues via cryptic epitaphs on tombstones found at the scene and those investigating seem to be right in the middle of the whole thing.

Stylishly shot, and coming across like a South American giallo movie this series is definitely worth checking out.  Inventive kills, some nice moments of tension, well acted and a plot that keeps you interested throughout the entire season.  Definitely worth putting the time in.
